Santa Dash 2013

Santa Dash 2013Well, done everyone! All you Santas were not deterred by the weather! The snow held off and the wind died down, but as you can see from the faces of the children, it was a chilly one.  Not only that, but many of our Santas were called out to be firemen and women for the morning after a 999 call.  In small places like Tobermory, almost everyone has two jobs, and this morning was the day for our firemen come Santas.  If they are not dropping down a chimney, they are putting one out.

First boy in the children’s race was Luke Grieves (5.80 mins), and 1st girl was Sophie Ralston (6.06 mins). In the adults’ race, Stuart Crichton (11.74 mins) raced ahead of Davey Graham (12.00 mins) and beat him by a white whisker, 3rd was Geoff (13.68 mins) from Arla Beg and 4th Alan Parker (13.70 mins). 1st Lady across the line was Babs Whyte (13.80 mins) accompanied by her black Labrador, sporting a fetching yellow Marie Curie balloon. Total 38 Santas in the races.

Anyway, a good time was had by all and compliments to all that braved the weather and made it to the MacDonald Arms afterwards. Thanks to Andrew at the Lifeboat Station, the Lifeboat Fundraising Committee for their tea and high calorie cakes, Carol for doing the warm up exercises, Neil, John and Sandra for 1st Aiding, the Police for stopping Christmas shoppers driving Santas off the road, Alastair, Louise and Sam for starting and finishing the races with their Marie Curie hats and donation buckets, and to Susan Hall from the Arms for hosting us with mince pies and drams.

Happy Christmas everyone!
