This was the 35th time the Mull Half Marathon & 10k races have been run on the island and we were pleased with a full entry in both races. The weather conditions were good, with a small headwind which kept the runners cool. The Half Marathon course record of 1:09:01, set by Robert Gilroy in 2015, has not been beaten, so the CGL Ltd prize of £250 is still up for grabs!
The Half Marathon winner and recipient of the Duncan McIver Trophy was Conor Gourlay from Dunfermline, and 1st Female was Sarah Duff from Glasgow.
The 10k overall winner was Jonas Mueller and 1st female winner was Natalie Wangler, both who won last year as well!
1st three local boys in the Half Marathon were Robert Chalmers, and recipient of the Salen Hotel Trophy, Gordon MacFadyen and Darren Thompson. 1st three local ladies were Laura Barrington, Rhiannan Harding and Amanda MacQuarrie all with brilliant times. First 3 Local winners in the 10k were Murdo Morrison, AJ Greenway, and David Allaway, who also won 1st place in the Male Super vet category. First 3 local ladies were Shelia McParland, Victoria Campbell and Kayleigh Brown.
Morag Liddle presented the Mull Half Marathon Lionheart Trophy to Gavin Major who was nominated by his running pal, Steven Birrell, for overcoming brain surgery and recovering to run again, and becoming an integral member of his local running community.
Huge shout out to all our Mull First Aid, Team Coast guard, and team Salen Fire Crew, who, as ever, added their professional skills towards running a safe and efficient event.
